Eidaiji Temple

永代寺
In 624 (the first year of Kanei), it was founded on Eitai Island by the opening of the mountain by Nagamori. In the Edo period, it flourished as a separate temple of Tomioka Hachimangu, but it was abandoned due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhist shrines in the first year of the Meiji era. The site is now Fukagawa Park and Fukagawa Fudodo, and it was one of the largest temples in the Fukagawa area. After that, in 1896 (Meiji 29), Kichijoin at the head of the tower of the former Eidaiji took over the name, and the current Eidaiji Temple was rebuilt. The name of the place in this area, Monzen Nakamachi, was named in front of the gate of this former Eidaiji Temple. (Quoted from Wikipedia)
