Minamizawa Hikawa Shrine

南沢氷川神社
Our company is located in the central part of Higashi-Kurume City, and is located on a hill surrounded by rivers in front and behind the precincts, sitting on a spring in the Minamizawa Ryokuchi Conservation Area upstream of the Ochiai River, a tributary of the Kurome River. It has been dedicated as a guardian deity of spring water since ancient times, and it is said that the Hikawa Shrine was founded in accordance with the tradition of Izumo "Hiigawa". A lot of earthenware and spears have been excavated from the vicinity, and it is thought that it has been inhabited and worshipped since ancient times. The date of its construction is not certain, but there is an ancient tradition of Zaihara Gyohei in the tradition handed down in this area. In the surviving ancient documents, it is stated that when he went east, he sought lodging in Minamizawa and stopped in front of the shrine. According to the Kami Wing Tag, which is a treasure of our company, it was rebuilt on February 15, 1654, by the chief clan of Minamizawa Village, Tanashi Village, Iruma Village, and Shimoarai Village, with the assistance of the Tokugawa family Shigemomi Kuze Yamato Mamoru, Jitou Kamiya Yoshichiro, Hachiya Hanno, and others.
