Seta Tamagawa Shrine

瀬田玉川神社
In the document of the former company name "Mitake Shrine" submitted to the government office in the 18th year of the Meiji era, it is stated that "during the Eiroku year (1558~70) of the Sengoku period, it was solicited to the Shimoyashiki of this village, and then in the third year of Kanei (1626), Nagasaki Shiroemon Yoshikuni made a donation and moved to Takigaya." In addition, it is recorded on the building tag preserved by our company that in September of the eighth year of Genroku (1695), Nagasaki Shirozaemon Yoshimitsu and Matashiro Kabao built the worship hall Ichiu (wing) in prayer for the longevity of their descendants. In the 41st year of the Meiji Era, several small shrines in the hometown were enshrined, and on April 1 of the same year, the former name of the shrine, Ontake Shrine, was renamed "Tamagawa Shrine" according to the place name. The shrine was renovated in the third year of the Taisho era, and in the twelfth year of the same year, repairs were carried out in response to the damage caused by the Great Kanto Earthquake. In September 1941, under the onslaught of Typhoon No. 26, the 7~800-year-old red pine tree in the precincts of the temple collapsed, and this led to the construction of a new shrine hall and office, which was completed in November of the same year.
