塩船観音寺1,300 years of history
It is said that 1,300 years ago, when a nun from Wakasa no Kuni (present-day Fukui Prefecture), Yaobikuni, enshrined a statue of Kannon Bodhisattva as a Buddhist place protected by Buddhas, when she was on a nationwide pilgrimage, Shiofune Kannonji Temple. Yahyakuni is a woman who is said to have lived to be 800 years old (became immortal) because she accidentally ate mermaid meat at the age of 17. There are many legends, including the Kuinji Temple in Obama City, where it was settled, as well as in the Hokuriku and Noto regions. Because she was particularly fond of white camellia (白玉椿) as a spiritual tree, it is also called Shirota Matsubakihime.

Kannonji Temple, which does not have a Dan family, prays every day based on the idea that if people living today are happy, they can be grateful for the past and think about the future.

It is also famous as a temple where you can enjoy the flowers of the four seasons, such as azaleas, hydrangeas, mountain lilies, and hagi. It is also the 72nd shrine of the 88 sacred sites in the Kanto region and the 12th temple of the 100 temples of the Eastern Flower Temple.
Azalea Festival and Fire Walking
About 20,000 azaleas are planted in the mortar-shaped grounds, and you can enjoy colorful red, white, purple, and orange azaleas from mid-April to early May. In addition, on May 3 every year, a grand festival is held, and at the dojo in the center of Azalea Garden, we strictly practice the Shiba lantern grand protection and fire walking parade, and pray to the Buddha for the elimination of illness and disaster for the believers and all the pilgrims.
